| Cinemax Pvt Ltd. files law suit against Rascals Detail |

The upcoming Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn and Kangna Ranaut starrer Rascals has run into troubled waters. The film which is set for an October 2 release is facing problems as the multiplex giant Cinemax has filed a legal suit against the producers of the film Vinay Choksey and Sanjay Ahluwalia. The said suit demands a stay order on the release of the film.
Confirming this, Vinay Choksey says, "Yes it is true that Cinemax has filed a law suit against us. However, the amount of Rs. 2 crore was taken for a totally different reason and Rascals is in no way a part of that sum. It is just an arm twisting technique that they are employing to recover that sum."
Further he adds, "We have been fighting a legal battle with Cinemax for over a year. Now seeing that our film Rascals is releasing next month, they have simply thrown a spanner to hinder the release."
Choksey claims that the said amount was taken from Cinemax for a different film which was not completed as Cinemax backed out of it. "In fact we had started shoot for that film and even recorded songs and other sequences. The said amount was used for that, so why should we have to pay back the sum for what they backed out of?", he adds.
"Besides we have not yet received the papers of the new legal suit, but when we do, my lawyer will read the papers and then decide how we fight them ahead," signs off Choksey. |
